PLATFORM
"I am running for Metro Council because I believe in bridging the gap between our communities and local government, as well as nurturing partnerships for the betterment of our district. From Parkhill to Shelby Park, every resident deserves a voice in shaping the future of District 6."
PLATFORM
Enhancing Public Safety
Public safety is a top priority. I am working closely with LMPD, community leaders, and residents to develop and implement effective strategies that reduce crime, increase police-community relations, and make our neighborhoods safer. This includes supporting Neighborhood Associations and Block Watches, investing in crime prevention programs, and advocating for resources to improve emergency response times.
Empowering Youth
Our youth are the future of District 6, and I am committed to providing them with opportunities for growth and development. I have been actively involved in supporting youth mentorship programs, afterschool activities, and job training initiatives, such as YMCA Black Achievers, Boys & Girls Clubs, and KentuckianaWorks' The Spot. By investing in our youth, we are nurturing the next generation of leaders and ensuring a brighter future for our community.
Supporting Seniors
Our seniors are a vital part of our community, and I am dedicated to ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive. I have initiated programs and partnerships to provide seniors with access to affordable healthcare and recreational activities that promote physical and mental well-being. Additionally, I am working to address housing affordability and safety concerns for our senior population.
Community Engagement
To address the unique needs of District 6, I regularly engage with residents through town hall meetings, community forums, and outreach programs. I believe in the power of collaboration and am dedicated to listening to the concerns and ideas of our community members. Together, we can work towards solutions that benefit everyone.
Infrastructure and Neighborhood Improvements
I am advocating for District-wide investments in infrastructure, including road repairs, park renovations, and beautification projects that enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods. These improvements not only make our district more attractive but also contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our residents.
Homelessness
Addressing homelessness isn't just a duty; it's an opportunity to build a future where everyone in our community has a place to call home, and we will make that promise a reality through proactive action.
As District 6 Councilman, I am allocating $10,000 in overtime funding for Metro Police to increase patrols, particularly during the night hours.
I have taken the lead in Louisville Metro's initiatives to collaborate with proactive programs like Goodwill's Another Way. This program focuses on canvassing highly frequented areas, often associated with panhandling, and provides individuals with paid work opportunities to help clean and enhance our neighborhoods.
My office is in daily communication with Homeless Services, actively working to relocate encampments across District 6. Additionally, we are extending essential services to our neighbors who are in need. To expedite the relocation process, repetitive encampment areas are being designated as "No Trespassing" zones.
I am also collaborating with fellow members of the Metro Council to initiate a comprehensive overhaul of leadership at the Metro Housing Authority. This strategic effort aims to bring about significant improvements, ensuring more equitable access to housing for our neighbors who are most in need.
